Under the partnership, the two companies will co-develop and deploy state-of-the-art vision- and AI-based robotic systems aimed at enabling fully autonomous or “dark” factories, facilities that can operate with minimal human intervention.

The collaboration will initially focus on civilian manufacturing sectors, including automotive, healthcare, consumer electronics, industrial CPG, and logistics, with solutions tailored for India and Southeast Asian markets.

The agreement brings together Bharat Forge’s deep domain expertise in manufacturing and industrial systems with Agile Robots’ strengths in AI-led robotics and intelligent automation.

As part of the MoU, both companies will also set up joint capabilities to offer bespoke, modular automation solutions, including the localisation and scaling of Agile Robots’ existing technologies for regional markets.

Bharat Forge vice chairman and joint managing director Amit Kalyani said the partnership aligns with the company’s ambition to deliver next-generation intelligent automation while improving manufacturing efficiency in India.

He noted that as domestic manufacturing accelerates, AI-powered robotics will play a critical role in enhancing productivity, precision, and global competitiveness.

Agile Robots executive director Rory Sexton said the collaboration strengthens the German firm’s presence in India’s fast-growing manufacturing ecosystem.

He added that combining AI-driven robotic automation with Bharat Forge’s sectoral expertise would enable end-to-end optimisation of production systems.

The MoU underscores India’s growing appeal as a hub for advanced industrial automation and highlights deepening Indo-German cooperation in high-technology manufacturing beyond the defence sector.
