Leh (Ladakh): In a major stride toward Atmanirbhar Bharat and self-reliance in defence logistics, the Indian Army’s Fire and Fury Corps has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with six leading defence industry partners to establish New Generation Vehicle (NGV) Repair Hubs and Warehouses in the high-altitude region of Ladakh.
The initiative, launched under the government’s vision of indigenous capability-building, aims to enhance the operational readiness of troops deployed in some of the world’s toughest terrains.
These new hubs will provide on-site maintenance, repair, and logistics support for modern military vehicles, significantly reducing equipment downtime and dependence on distant facilities.

The first NGV Repair Hub and Warehouse was inaugurated at Leh by Fire and Fury Corps General Officer Commanding Lieutenant General Hitesh Bhalla in the presence of representatives from the collaborating Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
The event marked a milestone in strengthening India’s high-altitude military logistics ecosystem, showcasing a robust partnership between the Army and the domestic defence industry.
According to officers, the six defence partners will provide technical expertise, spare parts supply, and advanced diagnostic solutions tailored for high-altitude operations.
This collaboration not only enhances the sustainability of front-line logistics but also fosters a public-private partnership model in defence maintenance, an essential step towards achieving complete self-reliance in military support systems.
Strategically located near forward deployment zones, the NGV hubs are expected to cut repair turnaround times, improve equipment availability, and empower local manpower through skill development and employment opportunities.
The initiative is designed to create a self-sustaining maintenance ecosystem that strengthens India’s defence preparedness across its northern borders, officers said.
By combining innovation, collaboration, and indigenous capability, the Fire and Fury Corps has set a new benchmark in military logistics.
The establishment of NGV Repair Hubs in Ladakh not only underscores India’s growing defence industrial base but also reflects a long-term commitment to operational efficiency, sustainability, and self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) initiative.
The companies participating in the NGV hub facility include Tata Advanced Systems, Mahindra Defence, Polaris, Bharat Forge, JSW Gecko Motors, and JCBL, according to an X post by the Fire and Fury Corps.
