New Delhi: India has signed a contract with Russia to buy Kalibr-PL anti-ship cruise missiles to provide firepower to its Kilo-class submarine fleet.

The contract was signed in the presence of India’s Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, the Ministry of Defence announced on the X social media platform on Feb. 4, 2025.
The Anti-Ship Cruise Missiles would significantly augment the combat capabilities of the Indian Navy’s submarine fleet, the X post said.

Sputnik India on Feb. 6, 2025, updated on the X platform that the India-Russia deal was for KALIBR-PL Anti-Ship Cruise Missiles. Russia has frequently used the Kalibr missiles for effect in the Ukraine operations over the last two years.
