New Delhi: India’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a contract with BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited (BAPL) for the procurement of BrahMos Fire Control System and Launchers for Indian Navy ships for ₹661.5 crore. The contract was signed under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) Category, the first choice of procurement under the Defence Acquisition Procedure 2020, on Tuesday (October 6, 2026) in New Delhi, witnessed by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
With at least 68% indigenous content, the project encouraged active participation of various Indian industries, including MSMEs. The project would generate employment over three years and bolster India’s maritime security architecture and defence capabilities, marking a critical milestone in the ongoing efforts to indigenise advanced military technology.
The BrahMos System fitted onboard various frontline warships is the Indian Navy’s primary surface-to-surface missile (SSM) system for maritime strike operations. The supersonic weapon system can hit land and sea targets from extended ranges with pinpoint accuracy, the MoD said in a statement.
