New Delhi: In a major show of force and technological maturity, the Indian Army on Monday (December 2, 2025) successfully conducted a combat launch of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from a test range in the Bay of Bengal.
The high-stakes mission involved seamless coordination between a BrahMos regiment under the Southern Command and strategic assets of the Tri-Services Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC), according to a Ministry of Defence statement.
The test, called Exercise Rudrakrosh, was no routine drill; it replicated real-world battle conditions, with the missile demonstrating its hallmark high-speed flight, stability, and pinpoint terminal accuracy.

Equipped with upgraded guidance and advanced control systems, the BrahMos precisely struck its designated target, validating its reliability for long-range precision strike missions.
Senior officials said the test-firing of the “regular” 290-km missile reaffirmed the operational readiness of Army BrahMos units and their capability to undertake immediate, high-accuracy missions in contested environments.
Southern Command General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Lt. Gen. Dhiraj Seth hailed the flawless execution of the mission, calling it a significant step forward in strengthening Indiaโs combat posture.
India had used the BrahMos missile extensively during the May 2025 Operation Sindoor to hit and destroy military infrastructure and terror camps inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Beyond its tactical message, the success reinforces India’s sustained progress in indigenous missile technology. The BrahMos, developed jointly by India and Russia, and continually enhanced with indigenous subsystems, has become a symbol of India’s defence self-reliance.
Officials noted that this launch aligns with the Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliance India) vision, underscoring India’s rapidly expanding capabilities in high-precision, long-range warfare systems.
As regional security challenges intensify, the BrahMos platform remains one of India’s most potent deterrent tools, capable of delivering swift, accurate, and decisive strikes.
The latest test not only strengthens the Army’s strategic firepower but also reaffirms BrahMos’s position as one of the world’s fastest and most dependable supersonic cruise missiles.
