India Army, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police Conduct Successful Joint Operations, Apprehend Insurgents, and Seize Weapons

Kohima (Nagaland): In a major counter-insurgency success, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, in close coordination with the Manipur Police, conducted a series of precise, intelligence-based joint operations across multiple districts of Manipur between Oct. 12 and 19, 2025.

The operations, executed in Phubala Mamang, Moirang, Top Makha Leikai, Bishnupur, Chandel, Imphal West, and Imphal East, resulted in the apprehension of four insurgent cadres belonging to various hill and valley-based militant groups, along with the recovery of 12 weapons and other war-like stores.

On 12 October, security forces apprehended People’s Liberation Army (PLA) cadres and seized a cache of arms, including an AK-47 rifle, an MP9, a double-barreled gun, a .32 pistol, live rounds, and bulletproof plates from Kokilbon Leikai, Moirang.

The following day, a joint operation in Phubala Mamang Pat led to the recovery of an INSAS LMG, a Chinese grenade, and protective gear.

Another coordinated raid near Keipha Road yielded a .303 sniper rifle, a Sten gun, bulletproof jackets, and telescopic equipment.

In parallel, Assam Rifles and Imphal West Police Commandos apprehended cadres from the Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) and KCP (Apunba) during operations in Top Makha Leikai and Lamphel Super Market.

In Chandel, a UNLF (Progressive) cadre was detained with a white machine gun, while in Thoubal, a KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) cadre was apprehended, the Ministry of Defence spokesperson and public relations officer for Manipur, Nagaland, and Southern Arunachal Pradesh said in a statement on Oct. 21, 2025..

The coordinated actions underscore the commitment of the Indian security forces to restoring peace and stability in Manipur through continuous and synergized counter-insurgency efforts.
