New Delhi: In a major boost for the Indian Army‘s capability building, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) today successfully flight tested indigenously developed low-weight, fire-and-forget Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile in the ranges of Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.

The missile was launched from a man portable tripod launcher and the target was mimicking a functional tank. The missile hit the target in top attack mode and destroyed it with precision. All the mission objectives were met, according to a Ministry of Defence statement.

This is the third in the series of successful testing of missile. The missile is incorporated with state-of-the-art Infrared Imaging Seeker along with advanced avionics. The test paves the way for the Army to have a third-generation man-portable anti-tank guided missile, which is developed indigenously.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has congratulated the DRDO for the successful test.
