New Delhi: Indian defence firm SMPP Limited has bagged an additional order for supplying 10,000 bulletproof jackets (BPJs) to India’s paramilitary forces, the company announced on March 10, 2026.

This fresh order takes the BPJs to be supplied by SMPP Limited to the paramilitary forces to a cumulative 50,000 units, the company said in a statement.

SMPP Limited is an Indian manufacturer of advanced ballistic protection systems for soldiers and weapon platforms across land, air, and sea.

The company is currently on track to execute an order to supply 40,000 BPJs to the Indian paramilitary forces, such as the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), on time.

The 40,000 BPJs are in addition to the BPJs offering protection from armour-piercing bullets that are being supplied by the company to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Indian Army.

Of the total order quantity, around 28,000 BPJs have already been successfully delivered. The balance units are scheduled for delivery in the next financial year, in line with contractual timelines.

“In recognition of SMPP’s timely deliveries and consistent product quality, the paramilitary forces have placed an additional order of approximately 10,000 Bullet Proof Jackets, taking the cumulative order quantity to 50,000 units,” the company statement said.

SMPPโ€™s BPJs are designed and manufactured in India to meet stringent ballistic and operational requirements, ensuring enhanced survivability and operational readiness for personnel deployed in diverse and high-risk environments.

“The execution of this large order reflects our manufacturing strength, robust quality systems, and our deep commitment to safeguarding the lives of those who serve the nation,” SMPP Limited’s chief executive officer, Ashish Kansal, said.

“At SMPP, we remain focused on delivering world-class protective solutions that support operational effectiveness while contributing meaningfully to Indiaโ€™s journey towards self-reliance in defence manufacturing,” he said.

Beyond personal protection systems, SMPP is expanding its capabilities across key defence segments, including the manufacturing of ammunition for 155 mm artillery guns, as well as drones and drone ammunition, further strengthening indigenous defence manufacturing capacity.

“Through innovation, scale, and consistent execution, SMPP continues to play a vital role in protecting India’s security forces while advancing the vision of Atmanirbharta (Self-Reliance) in defence,” the company said.
