Airbus Helicopters Hosts Safety Symposium to Strengthen India’s Rotorcraft Ecosystem

New Delhi: Airbus Helicopters reinforced its commitment to enhancing flight safety and operational excellence in India’s growing rotorcraft sector by hosting a day-long symposium on “Safety and Support & Services” On Oct. 30, 2025.

The event brought together aviation regulators, operators, and industry experts to promote best practices in accident prevention and rotorcraft safety management.

The symposium was inaugurated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Director General, Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, and featured key addresses by Airbus India and South Asia president and managing director Jürgen Westermeier.

Airbus Helicopters head of aviation safety and quality Florence Verlut, Airbus India head of light helicopters programme Jérome Ronssin, and Airbus Helicopters India and South Asia head Sunny Guglani also spoke.

“Safety is at the heart of every decision we make — from helicopter design and production to pilot training and data analytics,” said Florence Verlut in her keynote address.

“Our aim is simple: to make every flight safer than the last. Forums like this symposium enable open dialogue among stakeholders, encouraging a proactive safety culture across the ecosystem.”

Throughout the event, participants discussed a range of crucial topics, including accident statistics, safety management systems (SMS), helicopter flight data monitoring, decision-making frameworks, and aerial work safety standards.

The discussions also featured real-world case studies and shared experiences from operators implementing innovative safety measures across India’s diverse helicopter missions, from emergency response to commercial operations.

The symposium concluded with a session focused on Airbus Helicopters’ roadmap for future safety enhancements, emphasizing technology-driven reliability, improved maintenance support, and continued mentorship to build a safer and more resilient rotorcraft community in India.
