DRDO Transfers 12 Defence Technologies to Industry Partners, Boosting ‘Self-Reliant India’ Vision

Bengaluru: India’s military technology agency, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has transferred 12 Licensing Agreements for Transfer of Technology (LAToTs) covering eight cutting-edge defence technologies to Indian industry partners during the inaugural session of SAMANVAY 2025 on Oct. 29, 2025.

The two-day event, organised by DRDO’s Electronics and Communication Systems (ECS) Cluster, aims to strengthen synergy between industry, MSMEs, and start-ups in line with the Government’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) initiative.

The technologies transferred span critical areas such as electronic warfare, satellite communications, laser systems, and advanced materials, showcasing DRDO’s growing collaboration with the private sector to bolster India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem.

Industry Collaboration for Self-Reliance

Addressing the meet virtually, DRDO Chairman and Department of Defence Research and Development Secretary, Dr. Samir V. Kamat, said the organisation is uniting innovation and industry to drive self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

“From research laboratories to real-world capabilities, DRDO is partnering with industry to deliver indigenised solutions for the Armed Forces and fulfil the vision of ‘Make in India, Make for the World’,” he stated.

Former Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Director General and India’s second-highest recognition ‘Padma Vibhushan’ awardee Dr. R. A. Mashelkar spoke on the theme “Resurgence of Innovative India: The Challenge and the Strategy,” emphasising collaboration between innovation, industry, and research institutions to accelerate India’s technological advancement.

ECS Director General Dr. B. K. Das congratulated industry participants and urged start-ups to innovate for large-scale defence systems, assuring government support for their initiatives.

SAMANVAY 2025 features 10 thematic sessions focused on industry partnerships, MSME engagement, and policy reforms to enhance the Defence R&D ecosystem. The event brought together over 150 industry participants, highlighting DRDO’s continued efforts to bridge research and industry for a technologically self-reliant India.
