Bengaluru (Karnataka): Indian UAV manufacturer Raphe mPhibr has joined forces with Hensoldt, a European security solutions firm, to co-develop cutting-edge landing aid radar based on Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) technology for next-generation aviation platforms.
The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at AeroIndia 2025, which marks a significant leap in India’s pursuit of self-reliance, a statement from Hensoldt said on Feb. 13, 2025.
Raphe mPhibr will spearhead Research and Development (R&D) efforts to transform MIMO, a sophisticated system enhancing data transmission and radar capabilities, into deployable solutions for unmanned drones and manned aircraft.
Raphe mPhibr chief executive officer Vivek Mishra emphasized the partnership’s strategic value. “By merging Raphe’s design and manufacturing prowess with Hensoldt’s sensor expertise, we’re creating a globally competitive MIMO solution,” Mishra said.
Building on the MIMO initiative, the two firms inked a second MoU to localize the production of Hensoldt’s advanced sensor payloads in India.
The move aimed to establish a co-production facility to bolster domestic manufacturing capabilities while meeting global demand.
Raphe mPhibr’s unique closed-loop innovation model—integrating research, design, and production under one roof—enables rapid prototyping and stringent quality control.
This approach earned praise from Hensoldt global business head Russell Gould. “Raphe’s infrastructure rivals global benchmarks. Their agility complements our vision for scalable, high-tech solutions,” Gould said.
The partnership underscores a shared commitment to advancing India’s technological ecosystem while catering to international markets, the statement said.
By combining Hensoldt’s legacy in sensor and electronic systems with Raphe’s agile R&D, the collaboration aimed to deliver cost-effective technologies for air, land, and naval domains, it said.
“This isn’t just about technology. It’s about trust,” Hensoldt India managing director Andleeb Shadman said. “India’s market potential and Raphe’s design and execution excellence make this a win for global security infrastructure.”
